Two people have died and a third is fighting for his life after a stabbing at a home in the Auckland suburb of Epsom.
Another person has minor injuries in the incident.
The stabbing occurs in a house on The Drive, a major thoroughfare through Epsom.
“At approximately 11:30 am the police were called to receive reports of a stabbing incident, in which several people were injured,” said Detective Inspector Scott Beard.
“Upon police arrival, two seriously injured people were located,” Beard said.
“First aid was provided immediately, however, both were sadly killed at the scene. A third person found on the property was taken to hospital with serious injuries.”
“The police are conducting a series of initial investigations to establish what exactly has happened.
St John confirmed that paramedics treated two people, one in critical condition and one in mild condition.
Both people have been taken to Auckland City Hospital.
Epsom Congressman David Seymour told the Herald that people in the community will be amazed.
“This is shocking and tragic for our community … you will not expect this to happen in your community. There will be a lot of demand for responses, but the right thing to do is to respect the privacy of the neighbors who have had this happened a terrible event. There will be a lot of time to the investigation later. “
He said that those affected by the tragedy would need immediate support.
