Video footage emerged of a truck ramming a bicyclist on St Asaph St.
The video was posted on UpRide, a website that tracks close calls and collisions between vehicles and cyclists.
A police spokeswoman said a 65-year-old man had been charged with dangerous driving and causing injury. He was due to reappear in court in December, he said.
The time code in the video indicates that the incident occurred shortly after 7.40 p.m. on August 3.

The truck can be seen closely following the cyclist throughout the video, which is nearly two minutes long.
The cyclist was not using the dedicated bike path that runs the length of St Asaph St. The New Zealand Transportation Agency recommends cyclists use bike lanes or trails when available, but they don’t need to.
The video, which has been viewed more than 25,000 times on Facebook, cuts off after the bicyclist is struck, near the intersection of St Asaph St and Antigua St.
It was unclear what injuries the rider sustained.
