Auckland police arrested a man eight months after a home invasion where armed intruders allegedly shot three people.

But two others allegedly involved in the raid remain at large.

Auckland City District Detective Sgt. Matt Bunce said officers had charged a 30-year-old man in connection with the early morning gun raid on Mt Roskill on February 29.

Police pounced on property in Te Atatu, West Auckland, early Friday morning and arrested a man on suspicion of three counts of wounding with intent to cause serious bodily injury and one of aggravated robbery.

He is expected to appear in Auckland District Court on Friday, Bunce said.

One of the victims on the Marion Ave property was left with permanent injuries, but the others have made a full recovery.

CCTV footage shows three men arriving at the property about an hour after sunrise in a black van.

They allegedly entered the state house and fired a shotgun and 22-gauge pistol at the occupants, Bunce said. Apparently, four shots were fired and one missed.

INJURED MAN PURSUED ALLEGED INTRUDERS

A man shot in the alleged morning raid chased his masked attackers down the road in a car, a witness says.

That was among a host of new details. Things revealed the better part of a year after the alleged shooting, which left one victim permanently injured.

It wasn’t long after dawn on February 29 when the trio of men pulled up on Marion Ave and jumped out of their black SUV, police said.

A neighbor told Stuff that she remembered seeing the men put on camouflage bandanas to cover their faces. She refused to be identified for fear of violent retaliation.

His elderly mother was sitting outside the house at the time and said a cheerful good morning to the men, who did not respond, the neighbor said.

The trio walked down a long driveway to the house, which is set back from the street behind other properties.

Detective Sgt. Greg Brand, Auckland City West Area Investigations Manager, previously said one person sustained a permanent injury in the shootings.

The other two victims had made a full recovery, he said.

Police believe that four shots were fired, three of which hit the victims.

Brand also confirmed that one of the occupants of the home got into a car to pursue the assailants, but quickly lost sight of them.

Police are looking for a third man in connection with the attack.

“The police are keeping an open mind and looking at all possibilities, and we cannot rule out the possibility of gang ties in this matter, however, we do not believe this was a random incident.”

The black four-wheel drive vehicle captured on CCTV was not found.

People who were at the home on Friday, November 6, where the shootings occurred, declined to comment, saying they wanted to move forward with the incident.
