South Australians hope their prime minister can work out a deal with New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern that will allow them to cross the ditch without quarantine.
The prime minister’s office confirmed 9News today Prime Minister Steven Marshall will write to Ardern, requesting one-time reciprocal quarantine arrangements.
Earlier today, after a surprise U-turn in the state’s coronavirus strategy, South Australia announced that Kiwi tourists could enter the state without being quarantined.
SA Police Commissioner Grant Stevens said the 12 New Zealand travelers who entered SA over the weekend would be released from their medi-hotels immediately.

New Zealand has officially removed the coronavirus from its community.
Stevens denied that the change in New Zealand’s quarantine policy was the result of external political pressure.
Victorians living within 70 kilometers of the SA-Victoria border will also have new freedom to cross state lines.
