Currently, there are three new cases of Covid-19 in managed quarantine and isolation facilities in New Zealand, and a community of “weak positive” cases is being investigated.

A newcomer from Romania landed in New Zealand on November 3 via Qatar and Australia. They tested positive around day 12 in routine tests and are now in the Auckland quarantine facility.

The second case arrived from Australia on November 1 and was also detected in testing around the 12th. This person has now also been transferred to the Auckland quarantine facility.

The third case arrived from the UK on 12 November and tested positive upon arrival and was transferred to the Auckland quarantine facility.

The Ministry also confirmed a “weak positive” result on a person living near a woman who was confirmed to have Covid-19 on Thursday.

That weak positive case is not yet counted as a confirmed community case, but it is already isolated and further testing is underway.

The latest update comes as authorities urge New Zealanders, both in Auckland and elsewhere, to be on the lookout for Covid-19 symptoms and to get tested and isolate themselves if they have any symptoms.

Auckland Regional Public Health Service has published details of a number of places of interest that were visited by a confirmed case of Covid-19 between November 5 and 12.

Anyone who has visited those places on those dates should immediately seek a Covid-19 test, regardless of whether they have symptoms or not, and isolate until they receive the result.

Testing for Covid-19 and taking a test is free, and no healthcare provider should charge for a test or consultation.

On Thursday, a new community case was confirmed, and ‘Case D’, as it is now known, has been genomically linked to the Defense Force employee who works at the Jet Park Hotel.

Yesterday, there were no new cases in the community, and four new cases detected in MIQ.

As of today, the number of confirmed active Covid-19 infections in New Zealand is 56; all are in quarantine.

Yesterday a total of 6,320 tests were carried out, which makes the total number of tests carried out so far 1,169,062.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in New Zealand so far is 1,643.
