RuPaul Down Under will hit screens in New Zealand later this year.

Three Auckland Queens have been named competitors in the Under edition of the popular reality series RuPaul’s drag race.

Host RuPaul Charles arrived in New Zealand earlier this year and will judge RuPaul Down Under along with co-judge Michelle Visage and award-winning Australian comedian Rhys Nicholson.

On Saturday, the Auckland Pride Festival congratulated the three Auckland Queens who participated in the show, which are Kita Mean, Anita Wigl’it and Elektra Shock.

The three queens are not rookies on the big screen after Kita and Anita hosted the TVNZ series Drag House Y Elektra was the runner-up in the second series.

The entire series was filmed in Auckland with drag queens from Australia and New Zealand.

RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under will follow the show’s tried and true format, seeing the queens go head-to-head in a variety of challenges, culminating in the all-important “Lip Sync for your Life” battle in search of the Drag Superstar crown.

TVNZ OnDemand

The second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK will begin airing on TVNZ OnDemand on January 15.

“I can’t wait for everyone to see that. Under queens have some of the greatest charisms, uniqueness, nerve, and talents in the world, ”host RuPaul previously said in a statement.

RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under will premiere on TVNZ OnDemand in 2021.
