The announcement of the national deputy is under investigation after the complaints and is misleading.
The Advertising Standards Authority has rejected two complaints filed about billboards by national MPs and one advertisement in a newspaper.
Radio NZ reported Thursday that an anonymous whistleblower had claimed that he had violated the Advertising Standards Code because they included funding commitments that would only materialize if National won the election.
The Advertising Standards Authority received two complaints related to billboards scattered around Hastings showing a picture of Yule along with the words: “New $ 500 million construction of Hawke’s Bay Hospital beginning in 2025.”
“I feel that the statement on the billboards and advertisements is misleading and implies that the $ 500 million for a Hawke’s Bay Hospital is set in stone rather than an electoral promise,” the plaintiff told the Authority.

The Authority’s grievance board rejected that complaint, saying Yule’s identity and position on the issue were clear.
“The ad draws attention to party politics at Hawke’s Bay Hospital. That policy establishes the party’s position for voters to “access world-class health care regardless of income, background, or
zip code, ”it read.
“Voters will be familiar with the political party policy announcement process during an election campaign and will understand that such policies signal the intentions of the parties at the time they are made. In the context of promotional advertising, the statement in the advertisement is not a violation of the Advertising Standards Code, ”it ruled.
The Authority also investigated a complaint about a full-page newspaper ad in which Yule said it had “achieved a record commitment of $ 800 million for infrastructure projects in the region.”
He stated that Yule’s identity and position on the issue were clear, and “the likely consumer takeout, given the context of the ad and the branding next to the candidate’s name, would be the $ 800 million commitment related to the promises of the National Party if he is elected to the Government ”.
“Voters will be familiar with the political party policy announcement process during an election campaign and will understand that such policies signal the intentions of the parties at the time they are made … it is important that political parties are able to communicate freely. their policies so that voters can decide how they want to vote, ”he said.
Yule said she was satisfied with the decisions.
“I am proud that National has committed $ 500 million to rebuild Hawke’s Bay Hospital and $ 300 million for safety improvements on Napier-Taupō Road, Napier-Wairoa Road and Hawke’s Bay Expressway,” he said.
“I have worked hard for three years to get National’s support for a new hospital. I am proud to be the deputy for Tukituki and a strong local representative for Hawke’s Bay, ”he said.
