It’s the kind of love that Americans missed from their leaders and it’s already seeping through.

After rocker Bruce Springsteen shared a poem highlighting how the White House had become “sad” under the presidency of Donald Trump, the United States rejoiced over its new president-elect Joe Biden and his deputy Kamala Harris, with dogs that finally They returned to the Oval Office and the new leaders share insights about their personal lives.

The vice president-elect officially introduced her husband Doug Emhoff on Twitter today, although he had already been on the scene.

Posting a photo of the couple, he said that the lawyer, who will be the country’s first second gentleman, was the love of his life. Twitter reacted enthusiastically, enthusiastic about the romantic tweet.

As if that wasn’t comforting enough, Emhoff responded to his wife’s tweet with the message “I love you, Madam Vice President-Elect!”

Harris, 56, made history by becoming the first woman, the first black, and the first Asian American to be elected vice president of the United States (Harris is the daughter of Indian and Jamaican immigrants).

Emhoff, 56, will also be the first Jewish person in American history to marry a president or vice president.

The couple met on a blind date in 2013 and tied the knot the following year.

Emhoff is an entertainment attorney who earns an annual salary of more than $ 1 million (New Zealand $ 1.6 million).

Harris’s best friend, public relations consultant Chrisette Hudlin, was the one who organized the couple, apparently telling him at the time, “He’s cute and he’s the managing partner of his law firm and I think you’re going to like him.”

Despite being a fan of the Golden State Warriors, Harris replied “Go Lakers” when her new love interest texted her on the court at a Los Angeles Lakers game.

The next morning he called her while she was in the gym before work.

“I had an early meeting and as I was driving to work, I couldn’t get you off my mind,” he told her later.

“While I may be the first woman in this office, I will not be the last,” Vice President-elect Kamala Harris said in her victory speech in Wilmington, Delaware. Video / C-SPAN

“I kept telling myself, ‘It’s 8:30 AM, it’s too early to call her. It would be ridiculous. Don’t be that guy. Don’t call her. Don’t.’

After leaving a long and incoherent message, he thought he had ruined his chances, to the extent that he considered leaving a second incoherent message explaining the first.

Harris really found it “endearing”. She still has the message saved on her phone.

She called him back at lunch, they talked for an hour and the rest, as they say, is history.
