Police attend a serious accident on Russley Rd Wednesday morning.
One person was seriously injured after rolling his car onto a busy Christchurch motorway, causing significant traffic congestion.
The accident occurred on Russley Rd (State Highway 1), between Ryans Rd and Bentley St in Russley, around 6.40am on Wednesday.
A police spokeswoman said the car had rolled with a person inside.
The accident caused significant traffic congestion along Russley Rd between the Yaldhurst and McLeans Island highways for several hours.

The detours were in place along Russley Rd at the intersections of Memorial Ave, Sawyers Arms Rd, and Harewood Rd until the road was cleared just before 9:30 a.m.
New Zealand Fire and Emergency spokesman Brent Dunn said two teams from Wigram and Harewood used specialized cutting equipment to rescue at least one person from the crashed vehicle.
A spokesperson for the Christchurch Transportation Operations Center said the car had moved in a southbound lane and traffic had been slow back to Gardiners Rd.
St John’s spokesman Gerard Campbell said the person was seriously injured and taken to Christchurch Hospital.
