The winning Bachelor contestant accepts her rose. Video / TVNZ
The bachelor was left with the last two women, and all bets were off when Moses Mackay delivered his last rose of the season. Who did you choose?
The final episode of The Bachelor this season jumped right into fantasy dates. Moses surprised Annie with a trip to the ballet and she got emotional, but it was Moses saying they had 15 minutes on stage alone that caused butterflies. Annie instantly started spinning and romping around the stage gracefully as Moses grinned from ear to ear and said “you belong on stage.” They kissed and it all felt like a movie.
Later, Moses offered the chance to spend the night together and specifically told Annie, “Nothing is going to happen.”
Annie replied shakily, “I think I feel weird about that.” And he expanded his answer to the confession chamber: “Even if one of us slept on the couch, how would I feel if Shenae spent the night in a hotel room with him? Probably not so well.”
When Moses left the room and Annie let her tears fall freely, it was obvious that the emotions were real.
With each low, comes a high and that high was the end date of Moses and Shenae. Moses took her out in a boat to go fishing in Omaha Bay, and since consistency is key, there was a third wheel.
They went home and romantically gutted the fish that Moses caught… Boujee quote, right? Then Moses serenaded Shenae with the poem she wrote for the talent show. If you’re wondering how Moses got a copy, well, Shenae used his clothes for his performance and Moses conveniently wore those same clothes on the date and found the poem in his pocket.
“You feel very different today.” Said a curious Moses. “I guess I feel comfortable with where I am with you.” Shenae replied. The two of them went for a romantic swim in the pool and Moses asked if he would like him to stay.
“I was talking to Art about this and he said it’s not about intimacy, it’s just an opportunity to talk, so I think I’d like to hang out tonight.”
Art greeted Moses at The McCallum Residence for the final rose ceremony and Moses expressed that he was still not sure who he would choose.
She made it clear that her heart was being pushed in multiple directions: “I guess it’s easy to imagine a life with Shenae, she’s crystal clear. I don’t feel that way with Annie, she’s black and white and possibly orange and not. A comparison, I say there is a stranger with Annie. “
As Shenae approached the final ceremony, she remained a strong woman, “I’m trying to keep the mindset, whatever happens, happens and whatever happens will be.”
Although Annie remained optimistic, “I came to this program to find my person and I can see one hundred percent that Moisés is my person.” Followed by the best line of all, “I’m ready to see how this romantic comedy ends.”
Oh, aren’t we all?
At home, Moses chose a ring that (fortunately) told us that he would not go home alone as he had previously hinted. Phew.
As she was outside, talking to Art, it felt like Shenae had raised her walls, while Annie was more certain of her connection.
Shenae came around the corner first and I was turned into a ball of tears.
“I’ve finally made up my mind and * very dramatic pause * I just wanted to let you know it’s not you.” Moses said while breaking Shenae’s heart.
“This was my biggest fear, it was like being heartbroken. I don’t regret any of this for sure, I just think someone who was more suitable for him appeared in his eyes and that’s fine.”
Our queen of strength continues to amaze me.
Annie walked up to Moses, “I knew you were going to be someone special and when I saw you dance, the glow around you, I thought this is one of the reasons I’m here.”
Annie interrupted: “You helped me, you got that out of me, I haven’t danced like this in a long time.”
“The last rose, I wanted to give it to you. Do you accept it?” Moses held out the rose and Annie tearfully said yes.
“Don’t worry, I’m not going to get on my knees.” Moses joked as he pulled out the ring, a symbol of his journey so far.
“I am very grateful to have met you, Moisés, I really am.” They looked at each other like they were in love and maybe, just maybe, they were.
Viewers may have thought they’d just escape “shakazoo”, but I have news for you. Annie asked if she could take off her dress and Moses said, “Well, not right now! Shakazoo.”
And with that (they could have lived) happily ever after, we’ll know for sure when the reunion special airs next week.
