Invercargill police have found the body of an elderly man they believe belongs to Raymond Horn, who has been missing for more than a month.
Detective Alun Griffiths said the body was found this afternoon in a wooded area near Bill Richardson Drive, Invercargill.
“While formal identification has yet to be made, police believe the deceased is the missing Invercargill man, Raymond Horn.
“Raymond’s family has been informed.”
Police will not be in a position to comment further on the circumstances of the death until after an autopsy has been performed, Griffiths said.
Horn has been the subject of a week-long search after his disappearance on February 15.
Volunteer ground search and rescue teams, other volunteers and the police have been searching for him ever since.
Horn, who has dementia, walked with a limp and did not speak, disappeared from Walmsley House, a nursing home in the suburb of Richmond.
