1 News’ Wendy Petrie said goodbye to viewers Sunday night after 14 years of reading TVNZ’s 6pm bulletin.
Veteran journalist and news anchor Wendy Petrie said her last goodbye to New Zealanders on Sunday night.
In late June, when TVNZ announced job cuts on the way due to a 30 percent drop in revenue related to Covid-19, news was soon confirmed that the 6:00 p.m. host roles were being redesigned.
Petrie would continue to appear on TVNZ news and current affairs programs in a supporting presenter role, but her co-host Simon Dallow would only host the 6pm news.

“TVNZ has supported me a lot in its commitment to me. They say they don’t want to lose me from the screen. And as such, I’ll be appearing in all sorts of different roles over the next few months, which is great to see, ”said Petrie.
Breakfast gift John Campbell took to Twitter to wish Petrie well at his new venture on TVNZ.
“Wendy stays at TVNZ, working on all the shows (which is great), but this is the end of a long, great career. Come on, Wendy P! You Molas! “He wrote.
Petrie thanked all of her followers on Instagram in July.
“It’s hard to believe that it’s been so long and it’s over, but I loved every minute of it. Thanks for all the wonderful messages. Your kindness (sic) has overwhelmed me. ”
Petrie, staring into the camera at the millions of New Zealanders watching Sunday night, had a message for everyone.
“Thank you for hosting me for the past 14 years, it has been an honor and a privilege.”
