Firefighters tackle hot spots in Port Hills after a blaze engulfed 20 hectares of brush on Friday night.
Police are investigating a suspicious fire trail in Christchurch just one day after a major fire ripped through Port Hills.
A police spokeswoman said they were alerted to a series of seven suspicious fires in Addington and central Christchurch between 12.35 and 4.05 on Sunday.
“The police are investigating the circumstances of these fires and whether or not there are links between any of them,” he said.
“No charges have been filed at this stage.”

New Zealand Fire and Emergency Services senior communicator Mau Barbara said police deployed their team of dogs to one of the fires in Addington.
The suspicious fires occurred just a day after a blaze ravaged 20 hectares of brush in Port Hills. Police are still investigating the cause of the Port Hills fire.
The wave of suspicious fires started on Collins St in Addington with a burning tree trunk at 12:35 am Sunday.
Police then dealt with a tree fire on Gayhurst Rd in Dallington about 10 minutes later, a wildfire on Pages Rd at about 3.15 a.m., a jump fire near Hagley Park on Riccarton Ave at about 3.25 a.m. and a tree fire on Lincoln Rd at 3.40 am.
Police also received a report of a tree fire on Brougham St around 4.05am, but did not attend.
