Rescuers called off the search for a missing surfer who was last seen surfing off Papamoa Beach on Saturday night.
Police said a search of the coast on Sunday yielded no results.
So far, no reports of missing persons have been submitted and the police suspended the search unless they received more information that could be helpful.
A member of the public called police around 5 p.m. Saturday concerned about the man, who went out surfing near the Top Ten Holiday Park.

“He was later seen off shore at around 8pm. The member of the public was concerned for his safety and called the police. “
The Papamoa Surf Life Saving Club, two Coast Guard boats and two helicopters searched the area until midnight but could not see the surfer.
Police are asking anyone with information or who knows who the surfer is, should he or she return safely to shore, to contact them.
