Mikey Wright, the brother of world surfing champion Tyler Wright, has saved a life in dramatic scenes in Hawaii.

Wild surf was splashing the shore and a woman was unable to stand up because a heavy set created foamy conditions.

In a couple of videos posted on Tyler Wright’s Instagram captioned “Closing 2020 with a hero shit by @ mikeywright69” and on Mikey’s own page as “Hold my beer,” the 24-year-old ran into the wild. . conditions in incredible scenes.

Just over a week after Tyler’s victory in the Roxy Pro, the two-time world champion was with her brother and friends at Ke Iki Beach in Hawaii on New Year’s Eve.

“Oh no, they are dragging him,” said a woman in the video.

In the background, Mikey, who appeared to be holding the camera, said “it will have to be saved” before going into action.

“You can’t save him,” someone else said.

The camera dropped, but when it came back up, Mikey, who is also a pro surfer, was running down the beach into the choppy surf.

He was not the only one, but he was the only one capable of distinguishing a woman balancing in the water.

While it seemed shallow, the water was fierce, knocking the surfer and other would-be rescuers down.

At one point, he even had to hold down the woman he was saving when a huge wave crashed into his back.

But a group of others, including Tyler, were finally able to reach Mikey and the woman and drag them away from the water.

Mikey said The Saturday Telegraph who pulled out his phone and filmed bystanders trying to save the woman, but quickly realized that he needed to help.

Lifeguards were conducting another beach rescue at the time.

“Then I realized it was getting pretty dangerous, so I gave my wife my phone and said ‘let’s go find her,'” he said.

“She was trying to get in (on the rocks) and I said ‘we have to go to the beach.’

“We ended up grabbing her and going down with the current. I just told her ‘don’t let go and hold on.’

He added that he only had a few scratches on his back after the incident and that he was glad the woman was safe.

Tyler also said The Saturday Telegraph that the couple’s surf lifesaving training began with one of them getting into the surf and the other leading from the beach.

But the surfing community was impressed by the star’s heroism.

Surf legend Mick Fanning commented, “Wow, that could have ended really bad! Well done.”

WSL commentator Ronnie Blakey added “F *** on legendary!”

Former Australian pro Jessi Miley-Dyer wrote: “What a guy! I wish we had the pictures of him climbing the fence. His lucky day.”

He also added “Who needs a cape when you have a mullet”.

Comedian Celeste Barber simply wrote “Holy shit.”

There were many more comments on the posts, including fellow surfers Joel Parkinson, Sage Erickson, and Conner Coffin.
