UPDATED 8.50pm: State Highway 2 in Judea has reopened after a collision between two vehicles.
Tamatea Arikinui Drive, SH2, was closed between the Waihi Road exit ramp and the Cambridge Road entrance ramp and traffic was diverting onto Waihi Road.
Police were alerted to the accident at 6:10 pm and one person was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
UPDATED 6:30 pm: State Highway 2 is closed at the Waihi Road exit ramp after a two-vehicle collision.
Police were called around 6:10 p.m. following a two-vehicle accident on Tamatea Arikinui Drive, SH2 between the Waihi Road exit ramp and the Cambridge Road entrance ramp, says a police spokesperson.
“There is nothing at this time to suggest that there have been serious injuries.”
The road is blocked and traffic is diverting onto Waihi Road, the spokesperson says.

Earlier: Reports are coming in of a truck accident on a Tauranga highway.
A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says there is an accident on SH2 / Taikitimu Drive, near the Waihi Road exit ramp.
“Looks like a truck crashed into a meadow.
“Firefighters and police are on the scene.”
There are reports that the road is closed, although this has yet to be confirmed.
