Steven Adams has yet to play for the New Orleans Pelicans, but apparently has already agreed to a two-year contract extension.
This week, Adams was sensationally traded for the Oklahoma City Thunder after seven years at the NBA club, since he made his debut in 2013, when he was the 12th pick in that year’s draft.
The two-year extension is reportedly worth $ 35 million (NZ $ 50.16 million), according to ESPN.
Adams, 27, had one year left on his four-year contract with the Thunder, worth US $ 100 million (NZ $ 143.3 million).

According to ESPN, Adams will still amass $ 27.58 million (NZ $ 39.52) in the upcoming 2020-21 season.
The Pelicans have seen a dramatic offseason rebuild with Zion Williamson, the top pick in the 2019 NBA draft, now the longest-serving player at the club.
ESPN reports that because the Kiwi center did not give up its commercial kicker, it was able to sign an immediate extension with New Orleans instead of having to wait months, according to the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement.
Adams won’t be the first Kiwi influence on the Pelicans, as Sean Marks played 74 games for them between 2008-2010 when they were known as the New Orleans Hornets, while New Zealand Breakers point guard Corey Webster spent preseason there. in 2015
