State Highway 27 is blocked after a truck accident.
A truck carrying chemicals reportedly crashed, blocking State Highway 27 in Waikato.
The single-vehicle accident happened around 5 a.m. Thursday near Ngarua, which is between Morrinsville and Matamata.
The truck rolled and one person was trapped and removed by fire, a spokesperson said.
There were reports of chemicals in the truck, but nothing had been confirmed, he said, and the truck’s owners attended the crash site.
Emergency services are present, however there is no information on injuries.
The road is expected to be closed for some time and detours have been established on the Kereone and Maungakawa roads.
Meanwhile, in Poike, Tauranga, three people were injured after a two-vehicle accident.
Emergency services were called for the accident on state highway 29a around 6.40 am Thursday, a police statement said.
Injuries suffered vary from moderate to severe and the Serious Accident Unit is present.
The road, which was previously closed, was now open.
