India’s media reported that former Indian cricket captain and current BCCI president Sourav Ganguly suffered a mild heart attack after complaining of chest pains.

Ganguly, 48, “fainted” while working out in his personal gym on Saturday morning and was transferred to a Kolkata hospital.

Jay Shah, secretary of the Cricket Control Board in India, confirmed the development, adding that Ganguly was in stable condition.

Shah said on Twitter: “I wish and pray for the speedy recovery of (at) Ganguly99. I spoke with his family. Dadaist [Ganguly’s nickname] it is stable and responds well to treatment. “

Mamata Banerjee, chief minister of the state of West Bengal in eastern India, said on Twitter that Ganguly “suffered mild cardiac arrest and has been admitted to hospital.”

Other media reports said Ganguly is expected to be discharged Sunday after undergoing angioplasty.

Ganguly, a left-handed opening hitter, had 7,212 test runs over 16 centuries.
