New Zealand has six new Covid-19 cases today, five of which are managed in isolation.
One is a border worker who has been quarantined in Wellington. This person was an existing close contact for “case B” in the November group.
This person has been self-isolating at home since November 7, but entered controlled isolation on November 11.
They had tested negative on day 5, but have since tested positive today after being tested on day 12.
This person known as ‘Case F’ remains in the Wellington managed isolation facility and his close contacts have been contacted, screened and negative.
Of the five new cases of managed isolation, two that arrived from Qatar on November 17 tested positive on day 3 of the tests and are now in quarantine.
A person who arrived from Germany via Qatar and Australia on November 10 tested positive after a series of previous tests that yielded inconclusive results. They are now in quarantine.
Two others who tested positive after arriving from the US on November 14 were quarantined in Christchurch.
The Ministry of Health also reports that four people have recovered from the virus, which is equivalent to 42 active cases in New Zealand.
The total number of confirmed cases in New Zealand is now 1,663.
Yesterday, labs processed 7014 Covid-19 tests, bringing the total number of tests completed to date to 1,224,397.
