Officers search a home in Hoon Hay, Christchurch, in connection with the firearms incident.
Police are talking to two people after a car was shot in suburban Christchurch.
A police spokeswoman said officers told officers they had shot a car on Breens Rd, Bishopdale, around 11:45 a.m. Monday.
No one was in the vehicle at the time and no one was injured.
The criminals fled the scene in a car.

Officers were alerted to reports of a firearms incident on Breens Rd, Bishopdale, around 11:45 a.m. Monday.
Police are speaking to two people in connection with the incident and are not looking for anyone else. The car and a firearm are being examined.
Police visited a property in Hoon Hay on Monday afternoon in connection with the incident.
“We understand that this was a distressing incident for the Bishopdale community,” the spokeswoman said.
“We have dedicated staff working to hold those responsible to account.”
