Serious accidents in Auckland and Hawke’s Bay, pedestrian killed in Waikato

One person died after an accident on State Highway 1, Tokoroa.

The accident, which involved a pedestrian and a car, occurred just before midnight last night.

A police spokesman said a second pedestrian suffered moderate injuries.

“The road has since been reopened.

“Investigations are under way into the circumstances of the accident.”

Emergency services also responded to a serious accident in Auckland overnight.

Meanwhile, emergency services today are at the scene of a serious accident on State Highway 2 in Putorino, Hawke’s Bay.

The single vehicle accident near Haliburton Rd was reported around 10.40 a.m.

“Initial reports indicate that there are injuries,” a police spokesman said.

“The highway will be closed and traffic management will be in place.”

Police have advised motorists to avoid the area if possible.
