Scott McLaughlin did not dominate Townsville as he did in Darwin a week earlier.
Scott McLaughlin, defeated twice in so many outings at Townsville, ensured normal broadcasting was resumed on the 2020 V8 Supercars series.
The Kiwi, two-time defending series champion, achieved their 52nd career victory and the ninth this year when they led the victory in the third race of the Townsville SuperSprint on Sunday.
Having earned his 70th career pole position, McLaughlin held off Cameron Waters and Jamie Whincup on the podium spots.
The result again gives McLaughlin a break in the championship standings after Whincup closed the gap in the first two races.

“Great battle with Cam (Waters), it was quick. A little work to do, but really happy,” McLaughlin said.
“To get a win on a difficult weekend is a great thing.
“Every victory is a goal. You start from pole, you want to win and I feel good physically. But it is difficult without a great suit.”
Whincup previously closed the gap to 109 points for the McLaughlin series lead after winning the first two races on Saturday and Sunday.
The Holden veteran applied some pressure on Ford’s rival McLaughlin to secure his 12th career win at Reid Park.
The 122nd victory of his brilliant career will be one of the easiest, starting from pole and building a comfortable lead ahead of fellow Holden driver Chaz Mostert.
Kiwi Shane van Gisbergen edged out Tickford’s Waters to complete a Holden podium with Whincup’s Triple Eight teammate finishing third.
Whincup did not have to compete with McLaughlin, who qualified 13th before riding his Mustang to finish sixth.
