“For my part, I am ready for interaction and contact with you,” Putin said as quoted by the Kremlin.
Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Joe Biden on winning the US presidential election on Tuesday, after weeks of holding out.
Putin’s message to Biden came a day after the U.S. Electoral College confirmed Biden as the nation’s next president, ratifying his November victory in a state-by-state authorized repudiation of President Donald Trump’s refusal to admit he had lost.
The Kremlin had previously said that the Russian president would not congratulate Biden until the winner was officially confirmed.
“We are waiting for the end of the internal political confrontation,” Putin said last month, referring to the many Republican challenges to the vote count.
