All Blacks coach Ian Foster has been fired at SANZAAR, claiming that the governing body has not followed through on its originally proposed plans for the Rugby Championship.
NZ Rugby has protested against the tournament schedule that will see the All Blacks play their final game against the Wallabies on December 12, quarantining players and staff over the Christmas holidays.
Alternative solutions to SANZAAR have been proposed, and while Foster is unwilling to reveal details of what they may entail, he insists there must be a resolution immediately.
“There was a deal based on [December 5] where we feel SANZAAR has breached that, “says Foster.
“Expectations have been set and they haven’t been met, so that’s up to us, the game, and SANZAAR to resolve in the coming days.
“Today would be great, but we will accept it tomorrow.”
While attention has focused on the team’s need to self-quarantine on Christmas Day, Foster says concerns also surround the players’ workload.
“You have to remember that these players have been playing since February, they have been training since February,” says Foster.
“This is not just a Christmas issue, it is about players who have been playing and preparing to play through COVID-19 and in many situations for a long, long time.
“At some point, we have to draw a line in the sand and say ‘enough is enough.’
