The All Blacks will drop to third place in the world rankings after the loss to Argentina.

A team that once ruled the world of rugby is now simply one of the main lights, and the form guide suggests that they will have to get used to mixing it up on the ranking list.

The All Blacks came into the weekend in second place, behind world champions South Africa, but their loss in Sydney and England’s win over Georgia means Eddie Jones’s team will take the number two spot.

Rankings were introduced in 2003 and the All Blacks set a record that will likely never be equaled when they held the number one position for 507 weeks, from 2009 to 2019.

They fell to third place for a week after their World Cup semi-final loss to England in Japan last year before regaining second place with their bronze medal win over Wales.

South Africa has been in first place since last year’s World Cup and will hold the position despite not playing a test match in 2020.
