A Rotorua resident is $ 8.5 million richer, after winning the Lotto Powerball First Division in Wednesday night’s drawing.

The player bought his lucky ticket at the Western Heights Foodmarket in Rotorua.

Winnings are comprised of $ 8 million from Powerball First Division and $ 500,000 from Lotto First Division.

Tonight’s winner is the fourth Powerball winner this year, just two weeks after a Te Aroha bettor made $ 4.5 million with Powerball First Division.

The winning lottery ticket was sold at Valley Road Superette in Auckland.

The Napier and Invercargill players took home $ 200,000 each from Strike Four.

His tickets were sold at Z Kennedy Road in Napier and Windsor Stationery & Lotto in Invercargill.
