Radar detectors appear to be in high demand with several Christchurch residents reporting blatant “bumps and grabs”.

A post in the Bishopdale Community Group on Facebook on Monday drew more than 50 comments.

“Keep an eye out for this person and the silver BMW. We explored our little cul-de-sac in Nunweek Park at 4.57 last night and came back to smash our car window at 6pm to grab a radar detector.

“The car was on our way and it was completely cheeky at this time of day,” the message said.

The cartel was not the only one to have experienced something similar in the city recently.

One commenter said he believes it was the same criminals caught on security cameras who stole his radar detector last week.

“These same guys broke my car window and took my radar around 6pm in Rolleston on Sunday.

“There were two of them in the car, a bigger one and a smaller one with a child in the back. They seem to be everywhere in Christchurch. The bad life is just causing too many people pain.”

A third commenter said the same thing happened to them last Friday in Belfast.

Police are investigating the incidents.
