Buckingham Palace has issued a statement on behalf of the Queen in reaction to Oprah Winfrey’s interview with the Duke and Duchess of Sussexes.

It read: “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the past few years have been for Harry and Meghan.”

The royal family said it would privately address allegations by Prince Harry and Meghan that there were concerns about how dark their children’s skin would be.

“The issues raised, particularly race, are troubling. While some memories may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed in private by the family.”

The queen ended by saying that she would always love her grandson, his wife, and her great-grandson.

“Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be very dear family members.”

The interview, which aired on New Zealand screens last night, moved the royal family and divided people around the world.
