Sir David responds: “Well, hopefully there are none because there are many things we can do when animals are in danger of extinction. We can protect them.”

Give the example of the mountain gorillas in Central Africa. About 250 of the gorillas remained until Attenborough televised their plight. Now there are thousands.

Hi David Attenborough, I like spiders. Do you also like spiders? “Asked Princess Charlotte, 5 years old.

“I love spiders and I am very happy you like them, I think they are wonderful things,” Sir David replied.

“Why are people afraid of them? I think it’s because they actually have eight legs. “

The announcer spent an afternoon with the young royalty and their parents to see his new movie. David Attenborough: A Life on This Planet in the garden of Kensington Palace. The film is a reflection on the defining moments of Attenborough’s career as a naturalist and the changes he has witnessed in his life.

The Cambridges’ Instagram account posted images of the meeting between the royal children and their family friend, including a photo of George studying the fossilized shark tooth that Attenborough gave him.

The tooth, believed to be about 23 million years old, comes from a megalodon, an extinct species that was three times the size of today’s great white sharks. Attenborough found it during a family vacation in the 1960s.

The Maltese Minister of Culture has requested that it be returned to him.

Prince Louis, aged two and a half, is the last to ask a question.

“What animal do you like?” he said.

“I think I like monkeys better because they are so funny! They can jump everywhere and do not bite. Some do, but if you’re careful, they don’t. They are very funny and I really like them. Mind you, you can’t have monkeys sitting around the house because that’s not where they live. They live in the woods, ”Attenborough responds.

“So what can you have at home that you like? What would you choose, a puppy or a kitten?

It’s a very difficult question … I think I would go for a puppy. “

Attenborough recently joined Instagram and used his first post to say that saving the planet is a “communication challenge.”

The documentary maker enlisted the help of his younger colleagues to set up his profile.
