The artwork shows the year 2020 crossed out and replaced by 2021, along with the words “Let’s try again,” a likely reference to the nation’s collective experience of disruption caused by the global coronavirus pandemic.

In August, a sketch called The political cycle de Ardern raised over $ 18,000 at a charity auction at Trade Me. The framed picture resembled a tornado and was drawn on black paper.

Last year, another piece of art made by the prime minister, who is also the minister for Art, Culture and Heritage, sold for $ 600 at an auction in Timaru.

The Pablos fundraiser is an annual event that this year has a mix of art by Pablos and outside artists.

While Ardern’s piece has been listed online, other works will be up for auction at the studio’s auction to be held at the New Zealand Portrait Gallery.
