The two people who died were initially found critically injured. First aid was given immediately, but they died at the scene.
“The police are doing a series of initial investigations to establish what exactly has happened.”
Detective Beard says they are not looking for anyone else for the incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
“We recognize that today’s tragic incident will concern the wider community.
“While the investigation is still in its early stages, we want to assure the public that at this early stage we are not looking for anyone else in relation to this matter and we do not believe there is a broader risk to the community.
When asked by the media if those involved were family members, he said it was too early to comment.
However, he added that “it appears that they knew each other” and the person in the hospital with superficial injuries is speaking with the police.
St John confirmed to 1 NEWS that they were called to the scene shortly before 11.30 am. Two ambulances were dispatched with a rapid response team.
