Police are stepping up their presence in a western Auckland suburb as they investigate two firearm incidents.
Yesterday, two people were arrested after a firearm was reportedly discharged on Keegan Drive in Massey.
Around 2 a.m., another incident occurred outside a property on the same street. Police say initial indications show that eight shots were fired at parked vehicles.
No people were found on the property and no one is known to have been injured at this stage.
The scene is being surveyed at the address and the surrounding area in Massey.
Of the two people arrested yesterday, one has since been arrested for an unrelated matter.
Detective Sergeant Major Megan Goldi said investigations into the incidents were ongoing and that they could not rule out the possibility of further arrests or charges.
“This … will undoubtedly be of concern to families living nearby and to the community at large.”
They say that anyone who has witnessed suspicious activity before or after 2 a.m. in the Massey area can call the Waitematā Crime Squad at (09) 839 0697 or Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111.
