Police find man wanted in connection with Christchurch homicide investigation

Police found a wanted man in connection with a death on a Christchurch property, which is being treated as a homicide.

Police received a report that Michael Joseph Graham needed medical assistance at a property on England St, Linwood, around 2.50pm on Sunday.

The 57-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detective Senior Sergeant Sarah Illingworth said Tuesday that police had launched a homicide investigation after investigations established that Graham was involved in an assault at the Linwood home.

Police wanted to speak to Nathan Te Hana as part of the investigation, he said, and a public appeal was launched on Tuesday to spot the 46-year-old man.

Te Hana was found Tuesday afternoon and police said the investigation into Graham’s death was ongoing.

Just before 9 p.m. Sunday, two police cars were outside Linwood’s home and there was cordon tape in the front of the property. There was a big blue tent in the driveway.

A scene guard remained in place overnight.

Shea, a close resident, who declined to give her last name, said there had previously been suspicious activity on the property and that people were always coming and going.
