One man says gamblers took cover under tables and behind chairs in a bar on the Auckland Viaduct after a gun was fired in the lobby.

Acting Detective Sergeant Major Mark Franich said a group of people had been removed from Dr. Rudi’s rooftop bar in the central business district around 2:45 a.m. Sunday.

After a brief altercation, a firearm was fired into the lobby ceiling above the escalators, Franich said.

“This was an extremely serious incident with a large number of bystanders, and it is incredibly fortunate that no one was injured,” Franich said.

A man who was inside Dr Rudi at the time said Things there was a meeting of about 10 to 15 people inside the entrance.

“Then we heard a series of shots that sounded like gunshots from the entrance.”

“People remained standing while others took cover towards the back of the bar, hidden under the tables, behind the chairs. Not everyone seemed concerned.

“Then we heard the sound of glass breaking falling onto the escalators.”

Then a security guard told everyone to leave, he said.

Detective Sergeant Franich said no one was injured and no arrests have been made, but police are conducting investigations to identify and locate the person responsible.

“We are absolutely committed to finding the right person and holding them accountable.”

A spokesperson for Dr. Rudi said Things They were thankful that no one was injured and that all customers and staff are safe.

“At this stage we are unable to provide further comment while the investigation is in the hands of the New Zealand Police Service,” he said.

Dr. Rudi would still open on Sunday, the spokesman said.
