People who attended classes at an Auckland gym with a person who later tested positive for Covid-19 are at risk of becoming ill and should be tested, health officials warn.

A person with Covid-19 attended classes at Les Mills Gym in Takapuna, Auckland and also visited Countdown Milford and The Warehouse in Milford before learning that he was unwell, the Auckland Regional Public Health Service (ARPHS) said in a statement.
A spokesperson said that anyone who attended the same classes as the person was considered a close contact and was at a higher risk of getting sick.
The person attended the Sprint RPM class at 5.30pm and the Body Combat class at 6.15pm on September 9 and the Body Combat class at 9.15am on September 10.
ARPHS asked those who attended these classes to stay home and contact Healthline at 0800 358 5453 as soon as possible to arrange testing.
Other people who attended the gym around the same time as the case, but were not in the same classes, were considered casual contacts and also asked to take a one-time test.
“Casual contacts should also remain vigilant for signs and symptoms of Covid-19, but they do not need to isolate themselves unless they are not feeling well,” ARPHS said.
ARPHS said the risk to anyone who was in the Countdown supermarket or Warehouse at the same time as the case was very low.
“The person was only in these stores for 15 minutes and had no close contact with anyone else during the visits. While the person was contagious at the time, the risk to staff and other shoppers is considered low.”
The person visited Countdown between 11:45 a.m. M. And 12 noon on September 10 and The Warehouse between 11 a.m. M. And 11.15 a. M. On the same day.
People who scanned these locations using the NZ Covid Tracer app will receive an alert within the next 24 hours, ARPHS said.
Two new cases were reported today: one was a returnee to New Zealand in controlled isolation and the second was a healthcare worker working at the Jet Park quarantine facility in Auckland.
There are 97 active cases, 39 imported and 58 community. The total number of confirmed cases from New Zealand is now 1,446.
