Junior Fa’s blood test has ruled that he has long operated in the shadow of Joseph Parker. Now you have a chance to prove a point in the professional ranks.
The long-awaited Joseph Parker-Junior Fa boxing match has been postponed after Fa’s blood test ruled him out of the December 12 contest in Auckland.
The fight organizers hope to reschedule the fight in late February or early March next year, with an announcement expected next week.
“We saw a problem in sparring and training for a few days, anyway we did a routine blood test on Friday and due to the blood test result on Monday, the doctor said that we did not have authorization to fight in four weeks”. Fa’s manager, Mark Keddell, told Stuff.
“We have spent a lot of time with surgeons and specialists in the last few days to get things under control… so now he has to operate on Tuesday.
Keddell did not specify what the problem was.

“The guy is in amazing shape, he’s a six pack, which is pretty amazing four weeks into a fight in the heavyweight division. He’s an absolute Adonis when you look at him and something wasn’t working and he required surgery to fix it. “. . It’s just one of those things we have to do. “
Duco Events owner and Parker manager David Higgins is working with stakeholders to finalize a new date, but took the setback in stride.
Higgins pointed to the 2009 fight he arranged between David Tua and Shane Cameron, which actually benefited from a similar delay.
“I’ve been an event promoter for 16 years and boxing is the gift that continues to give,” Higgins said. “We’ve had postponements before. In the David Tua-Shane Cameron fight, Shane Cameron did a set-up (fight) beforehand and broke his hand and that delayed the event for a few months. At that point I thought it was the end of the world, but in hindsight it made it a much bigger event, it gave it a longer turnaround time and more excitement created.
“The key is that we want both boxers at 100 percent peak fitness to compete at the highest level … so there was really no choice but to delay a few months.”
