Writing as if he were Eloi posting the message, the post read: “Today, Thursday, [I’m] 19 years. October 1 is my birthday.

“I am a French student at Education First School in Auckland, New Zealand, but I am a missing person.

“My parents are looking for me, their heart is with me and they hope to find me safe and sound.”

Eloi came to New Zealand in September 2019 to study English and was “in regular contact” with the family several times a week.

In a statement two weeks after her disappearance, her family said her disappearance “is very misplaced and we are extremely concerned.”

“He has never run away from home and has always been in contact with his family.”

Eloi’s family has created a dedicated Facebook page where photos are posted regularly to help remind people of her disappearance.

Police say Eloi speaks limited English and is described as 170 centimeters tall with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a blue and white jacket, jeans, and dark sneakers.
