The Z gas station in Paremata has been cordoned off after the stabbing.
A man is in stable condition after being rushed to Wellington Hospital following a stabbing in Paremata, north of the city.
Police have confirmed that they still did not know who was responsible for the stabbing and no arrests have yet been made.
The incident happened on Mana Esplanade, State Highway 1 that runs through the coastal settlement, around 1 p.m. Sunday, police said.
The Z gas station, north of the commercial area, was also cordoned off.
The man who was stabbed was taken to Wellington Hospital in serious condition, police said.

A section of the local commercial area had been cordoned off for a scene survey.
A person who passed in front of the scene said that he saw a person lying in the middle of the road.
The circumstances of the stabbing were not yet clear.
Stuff He spoke to people in the busy mall who did not know what had happened.
Briana Nicole, who worked at Coastline Vapes, said she saw police running past.
“We saw the police pass by and it was the first time we heard about anything,” he said.
