The Pakistan cricket team has been denied an exemption from leaving their hotel to train in groups while they complete their time in controlled isolation.

Chief Health Officer Dr. Ashley Bloomfield confirmed Friday that he would not grant the waiver.

The group of 54 people who traveled through Pakistan have had eight positive tests for Covid-19 since they entered controlled isolation in Christchurch.

“I have considered this situation very carefully. At this time, I continue to have concerns about the risk of cross infection within the team, ”said Bloomfield on Friday.
