One person died after a water incident in Taupō tonight.

A police spokeswoman said the incident occurred in Two Mile Bay.

Emergency services were alerted at 6.07 pm.

“Unfortunately, attempts to revive the person were unsuccessful and he died at the scene,” the spokeswoman said.

Death will be referred to the coroner.

It is the third water-related death on the North Island in the past 24 hours.

Earlier today, a person drowned in a lake near a beach southwest of Auckland.

Emergency services were called to Lake Puketī, near Karioitahi beach, shortly before 11 am.

“Police and emergency services are in a drowning case at Lake Puketī,” police said.

“Unfortunately, one person died at the scene.”

St John said they had treated a second person in a moderate state.

Meanwhile, the body of a missing teenager was found in Lake Arapuni in Waikato in the late afternoon.

A police spokeswoman said police received a report of a person missing in the water in the Jones River Landing area on Lake Arapuni around 8.25pm ​​yesterday.

The National Police Diving Brigade conducted a search today and the body was recovered.
