One dead in fatal two-car crash in Upper Hutt

State Highway 2 has reopened after a fatal accident in Upper Hutt this morning.

One person died after the two-car crash on State Highway 2, River Rd, in the suburb of Elderslea.

The Serious Accident Unit was investigating the scene, which caused the road to close for several hours, but has completed its examination.

The road has now been completely reopened.

Other people had been treated for a “series of injuries,” police said.

Emergency services were alerted to the two-vehicle accident between Gibbons St and Whakatiki St around 11 a.m.
