Officials Confirm No Covid-19 Cases in Christchurch as Four New Community Cases Announced | 1 NEWS

There are four new cases of Covid-19 in the community today, and one case in managed isolation.

The Health Ministry has also confirmed that there is no positive case of Covid-19 in Christchurch, after launching an investigation and issuing a statement last night.

The latest update was provided by the Ministry of Health this afternoon, without a press conference at 1:00 p.m.

All four community cases are linked to the broader August Auckland cluster and are epidemiologically linked to the Mt Roskill Evangelical Church cluster.

The only imported case announced today is that of a man in his 20s who arrived from India on 23 August and has been housed in an isolation facility in Auckland. He is a close contact of an existing confirmed case and tested positive after routine tests around day 12 of his stay. You are now in quarantine.

The Health Ministry said the person from Christchurch who was discussed yesterday as under further investigation has now been confirmed as not a Covid -19 case. The investigation has been closed.

There are 75 people linked to the community group remaining in the Auckland quarantine facility, which includes 58 people who have tested positive for Covid-19.

There are currently four people with Covid-19 in the hospital; two are in the North Shore Hospital general ward, one is in the Middlemore Hospital general ward, and the other is in the Waikato Hospital ICU.

One of the previously reported cases is now considered to have recovered.

With today’s five new cases, our total number of active cases is 116. Of these, 39 are imported cases at MIQ facilities and 77 are community cases.

The number of deaths related to Covid-19 in New Zealand is 24.
