Niue Prime Minister Dalton Tagelagi has confirmed that discussions between his government and New Zealand on non-quarantine travel have begun.
This week, Mr. Tagelagi and New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern reaffirmed the desire of both governments to sign a quarantine-free travel agreement, only when it is safe to do so and when health, border controls have been met. and other necessary protocols. has been fulfilled.
Discussions between Niue health officials, border agencies, and their counterparts in New Zealand are in progress and will continue until all parties are satisfied that protocols are in place to ensure the protection of public health.

The New Zealand agencies will provide technical support to Niue, in addition to ongoing support from the World Health Organization, the Secretariat of the Pacific Community and other partners to enable non-quarantine travel.
The agreement between the two governments must be confirmed by their respective Cabinet, before a start date is set.
