New Years, New Millionaires: Two South Island Lotto Players Start 2021 Winning $ 2.8 Million Each

Two South Island Lotto players from Twizel and Te Anau are $ 2.8 million richer, after winning Powerball First Division.

Winning tickets were sold at The Market Store at Twizel and Fresh Choice Te Anau. The prize is comprised of $ 2.5 million from Powerball First Division and $ 333,333 from Lotto First Division.

The lucky duo are the first Powerball winners in 2021. Their victories come a week after a player from Oamaru made $ 18.25 million with Powerball First Division.

That winner spent the New Years holidays celebrating his life-changing victory, while letting the news sink in.

It was the second-largest lottery jackpot for 2020, behind two Auckland ticket buyers who handed out a $ 25.1 million jackpot to each bank in late February.

A Lottery player in Auckland will also be celebrating, after winning $ 333,333 with Lotto First Division.

That winning lottery ticket was sold at Mobil Blockhouse Bay in West Auckland.

Anyone who has purchased their ticket from any of the winning stores above must write their name on the back of their ticket and verify it at any Lotto NZ point of sale, online at MyLotto.co.nz or via the Lotto NZ app.

Strike Four was renewed Saturday and will be $ 300,000 on Wednesday.

New Zealanders spent $ 1.38 billion on Lotto in the year through June, of which $ 313 million went to the Lottery Grant Board.
