The crashed car was blocking two southbound lanes on the south highway.
An accident on Auckland’s South Motorway is causing delays during Monday morning’s journey.
NZTA said that around 7 a.m., a car rolled onto the southbound highway, heading south, just before the exit ramps to the South Eastern Highway and Mt Wellington Highway and was blocking two lanes.
There were also northbound delays due to motorists slowing to pass through the scene.
Anyone traveling on the South Freeway in the morning should expect long delays, the NZTA warned.

Teacher Ben Afele was on his way to school when he witnessed the accident.
“I saw a pickup hitting the back of a car that crashed and landed in the center lane. I was a few cars behind in the middle lane when I saw the car fly through the air.
“The car probably lifted a good ten feet in the air.
“At that time, I saw few people get out of their cars and run towards the vehicle that had overturned,” Afele said.
Police were present at the accident and were working to move the car, a police spokesman said.
One person had suffered moderate injuries.
“The vehicle is expected to be clear shortly, however there is heavy congestion on both directions on the highway and motorists are advised to expect delays.”
A second accident on the South Freeway also blocked a southbound right lane between Khyber Pass Rd and Gillies Ave.
NZTA said further delays could be expected.
Travelers were urged to delay their trip or consider using SH20 through the Waterview tunnel.
