A grime-infested property with dirt snaking through the walls has been rented on one of the busiest main streets in South Auckland.

That might be one of the only things going for it, with scenic views off the Great South Rd road, in the heart of Ōtāhuhu, making for a colorful sight.

However, the colorful views don’t end there, as the listing shows several less favorable photos of the interior of the property as well.

One reader who contacted the Herald described it as peeling paint and “a bathroom that would make you dirtier than before you walked in.”

The listing, at 275A Great South Rd, has been posted on the Barfoot & Thompson website.

It’s a one-bedroom apartment that will cost the buyer $ 310 a week.

“A great room, a bedroom, an open kitchen (and) a combined bathroom and toilet,” the ad says.

“Available now!” Potential tenants are informed.

Real estate agent Shantanu Srivastava said it looked like the listing, which is also on Trade Me, had come up with old photos and should have appeared as a blank listing with no photos attached.

“There is work on the property (this week),” he said.

The property owner had started construction and rental renovations, he said, and it was all expected to be finished by the end of the week.

The previous tenant had been in the property for about eight years.

Upon inspection of the rental, it was decided that the property needed a “touch up,” he said.

The landlord had indicated that the renovations include a new paint job and carpet cleaning.

Srivastava said the current list had only been active for about three to four days and that he would now be checking how many old photos were used.

Those interested in the property could expect to see new photos attached “in a week or so,” he said.
