A girl the family feared was kidnapped in Christchurch has returned home. (File photo)
A missing 12-year-old girl who the family feared had been abducted in Christchurch has been found and is at her home.
Relatives of the girl feared she may have been abducted when she disappeared from a home on Hills Rd, Mairehau, around 4.25pm Thursday.
The young woman walked around the corner of Hills Rd around 8pm. When the family saw her, they started yelling her name.
She was walking at a slow pace and the family ran up to her and hugged her. The girl was crying as the police and family escorted her back to the house. It is understood that she was not injured.
Her aunt said the girl’s mother heard a “gasp” before her daughter disappeared from the driveway.
“They had just gotten home from school pickup and her mother had asked her to bring something from the car,” she said. Things.
“She went out and her mom was in the kitchen. She [the mother] I heard a gasp and she screamed for [her daughter] And there was no reply.
“She came out and just left. He saw absolutely nothing. “
The aunt said they were very relieved that they had found her.
“We are very happy that he is back,” he said.
The girl was being interviewed by police at her home, she said.
Police could be seen near the girl’s home Thursday night, and local residents joined the search.
