Every carmaker suffers from a glitch leading to a recall, and despite making some really exceptional and very expensive cars, British supercar maker McLaren is certainly no exception.
The company has announced that it will recall more than 2,700 supercars, including the $ 1 million (NZ $ 1.93 million), 588kW Senna, for a failure that could increase the risk of fire.
According to a notice posted on the website of the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Most of the vehicles covered by the recall are the 720S, GT, and 570GT models, with the Senna trapped in it due to the fact that it is primarily based on The 720S.
According to the notice, the NVH pad (a foam pad used to dampen noise and vibrations) mounted under the fuel tank in affected cars can retain moisture, which can cause corrosion over time and possible fuel leakage. .

While fuel or vapor leaks would be released far away from sources of ignition or heat, if not remedied, fuel could spill out from under cars and increase the risk of fire.
What you really don’t want in your $ 1.6 million car OR any car, for that matter.
McLaren said in a statement that no fires have been linked to the problem, but that the company had chosen to carry out the recall “with great caution.”
Models without the foam pad in question are not included in the recall.
Nor is it the Senna’s first recall: Late last year, McLaren recalled the hypercar for an issue in which the engine harness could come in contact with a metal link pipe heat shield, skimming the harness over time and potentially damaging the cables.
