A man was fatally shot on Saturday (local time) during dueling protests by left and right groups in downtown Denver, and police arrested a suspect they said worked as a private security guard.
An NBC News affiliate, KUSA-TV, said on its website that the man arrested in the shooting was a security guard hired by the television station to provide protection for its crew.
“It has been the practice of (KUSA) for several months to hire private security to accompany staff in protests,” the station said.
The shooting took place in a courtyard at the Denver Art Museum during a so-called Patriot Rally that was met with counter-protests from groups calling for their BLM-Antifa Soup Drive rally.
Denver Police Chief of Investigations Joe Montoya did not confirm whether the suspect worked for the station. The authorities have not identified the victim or the alleged aggressor.
Update: Further investigation has determined that the suspect is a private security guard with no affiliation with Antifa. Additional information will be posted as it becomes available.

Montoya said police kept the two groups separate and that there were no other arrests during the competing rallies.
A Denver Post photographer captured the image of a man spraying a chemical agent on another man with a drawn pistol.
